Welcome to the FERVENT-1 clinical study!

Learn about the FERVENT-1 clinical study

Diagnosed with non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia? You’re not alone.

This website provides information about a clinical study, FERVENT-1, for adults with non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia.
Beta-thalassemia is a blood disorder associated with excess iron (iron overload). People with iron overload often suffer from conditions such as heart disease, low white and red blood cell counts, diabetes, liver disease, and reproductive problems. Reducing the amount of iron in body organs could possibly decrease the chances of developing these serious conditions.
Currently, we are working on developing potential treatments for iron overload due to non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia.

This clinical trial will use an investigational drug product, the safety and efficacy of which has not been fully evaluated by Regulatory Authorities.

Clinical studies are essential to investigating potential treatments and are not possible without the people who take part. Everyone involved in this clinical study plays an important role in increasing our understanding of non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia, which may help others in the future with this condition.
Living with non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia may feel overwhelming, and you may feel that you have enough to do without committing to a clinical study. However, you may play a key role in helping to develop therapies that are being studied to help advance our medical knowledge of non-transfusion dependent beta-thalassemia. Every treatment that exists today is available because of study participants who actively took part in research.
